KOUKRIKO is a web-based interactive game developed from our research on decision-making, collective optimization, and Natural Intelligence.
Our previous studies have explored how interactions among decision makers can help move a system beyond individually optimized outcomes toward better collective outcomes, both theoretically and through physical implementation
(Kim et al., 2016; Tsuchiya et al., 2018; Kim et al., 2021 ).
KOUKRIKO extends this perspective to human interaction.
Through simple encounters with others, players experience how their own decisions are influenced by the intentions and actions of other people. The game encourages players to look beyond immediate individual choices and consider the broader relationship between self, others, and the whole.
The underlying idea is to explore whether such interaction can encourage higher-order or meta-level thinking — considering not only “What should I do?” but also “What might the other person do?”, “How will my action affect them?”, and “What outcome can emerge from our interaction?”
KOUKRIKO does not prescribe cooperation or any particular strategy. Instead, it provides a simple environment for experiencing and exploring decision-making, adaptation, intention inference, and the relationship between individual and collective outcomes.
